Overview

A journey with lots of contrast from the game enriched plains of the famous Serengeti to the salt pans of Lake Manyara. A further high point of your journey is the Ngorongoro Crater and Ol’Duvai Gorge, both unique sites and a must for any visitor to Tanzania. With a choice of Classic or Superior accommodation, this safari is a perfect add-on to one of our Kenyan safaris.

Itinerary
Day 1 - Arusha

On arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Arusha (approximately 55 KM / 1 hour).

Accommodation: 1 night in Arusha.

Day 2 - Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Spend the morning at leisure. After lunch meet your driver/guide for a briefing and drive in 4X4 safari vehicle into Tanzania’s Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Dinner and overnight at your lodge (approximately 175 KM / 3.5 hours). (BLD)

Accommodation: 2 nights Ngorongoro Farm House .

Day 3 - Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Get the adventure started with a drive down the steep valley (about 600m) to the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater. The crater is known for its unusual sights including the rare black rhinos. After spending the full day in the crater, with a packed lunch, you will return to the lodge for dinner. (BLD)

Day 4 - Serengeti National Park

After breakfast you will travel to the Serengeti National Park, with a stop enroute at Ol’Duvai Gorge. Here in the ‘cradle of mankind’ the skull of a human being was found which is believed to be the oldest ever discovered. Dinner and overnight at your lodge (approximately 200 KM / 4 hours). (BLD)

Day 5 - Serengeti National Park

Enjoy a full day of quality African safari time in the Serengeti National Park. Home to a vast array of Tanzania’s wildlife, there will be plenty of opportunities to see the ‘Big Five’, but to increase your chances a picnic lunch is provided so you won’t have to look away for a second! Dinner and overnight at your lodge. (BLD)

Day 6 - Lake Manyara National Park

This morning travel through the Serengeti National Park one final time on a morning game drive. Journey on to Lake Manyara where you enjoy dinner and overnight at your lodge (approximately 225 KM / 5 hours). (BLD)

Day 7 - End of Tanzania Highlights Tour

Enjoy a morning game drive in the Lake Manyara National Park, the home of the so-called ‘Tree Lions’, before driving back to Arusha. After lunch you will be transferred back to either Arusha or Kilimanjaro Airport for your onward journey (approximately 245 KM / 3 hours). (BL)

Ngorongoro Farm House

Live the legendary atmosphere of past times on a colonial style coffee plantation farm house.

Hand plaited thatched roof tops, ample verandas and colonial interiors at Ngorongoro Farm House, a small and exclusive hotel built on a 500 acre coffee plantation, all of which has been designed to take you to the comfort and style of past times.  Take a walk around the farm to contemplate the daily activities, relax in the fragrant gardens or enjoy the spectacular sunsets with the Oldeani volcano as a backcloth.

A wonderful stop-off during a safari on the north circuit of Tanzania and a privileged place from where one can visit the crater or enjoy activities such a walking safaris to the volcano or excursions to Lake Eyasi on the Rift Valley still inhabited by the Hadzabe tribe.

Serengeti Sopa Lodge

Located on the edge of the escarpment overlooking the plains of the south-western Serengeti National Park, home to many thousands of wild and rare animals, Serengeti Sopa Lodge lies within an area of out-standing natural beauty. An oasis of cool relaxation from the equatorial sun.

The lodge allows its guests to experience magnificent sights and enjoy interaction with the land and animals difficult to find elsewhere, whilst at the same time enjoying the highest level of cuisine and hospitality.

Kirurumu Tented Lodge

Kirurumu Manyara Lodge is set high on the edge of the Great Rift Valley, enjoying a marvellous, uplifting and panoramic view eastward over Lake Manyara, the Rift floor and Mt. Losimingori. Behind Kirurumu, the Ngorongoro Highlands rise in green and fertile splendour and form the gateway to Ngorongoro Crater and, finally, Olduvai Gorge, the Serengeti.
